Colliers International to hold Australias first national auction portfolio

On Wednesday, 23rd March, 2011, Colliers International will take nine properties to auction in-rooms at their Queen Street office, Brisbane and one on-site, as part of the company’s first national auction for Australia, the Colliers International National Auction Portfolio, Autumn 2011.
During the week commencing 21st March, 18 properties across Queensland and 41 properties in total around the country, worth a combined value of just over $100 million, will be placed under the hammer state-by-state.
The launch of the inaugural Colliers International National Auction Portfolio (Autumn) follows the success of the business’ state-based seasonal portfolios last year, which saw more than $300 million in property change hands with a clearance rate of up to 70 per cent.
“We recognise that astute investors look beyond their state lines for prime acquisition opportunities, so our offices around the country have joined forces to provide both potential purchasers and vendors the chance to consider and showcase their holdings,” said Simon Beirne, Colliers International Queensland Chief Executive Officer.
“Listing properties in the portfolio has also delivered economies of scale to our vendors in marketing the portfolio.”
The 41 holdings will be featured in a nation-wide publication, which will be distributed to more than 10,000 investors, as well as an extensive marketing campaign.
Mr Higgins, Colliers International Executive Metro Markets and Auctions, said the timing of the portfolio launch had also been key, not only kicking off the year but capitalising on national market conditions with sustained interest rates, falling vacancy rates in both the commercial and industrial sectors and rising investor sentiment.
“The sub $10 million investment market appears to be continuing on from the strong finish in the fourth quarter of 2010,” he said.
“Investors are still seeking quality investments with long term leases and strong covenants.
“We have also seen a resurgence in the owner occupier market - now is the time to re-enter the market.”
