Fashion accessories retailer Diva is set to open its new premises on the Gold Coast.

Ian Carrigan, Colliers International retail director said the fast-growing chain has taken a 4 year lease on a 45sq m tenancy at 2/15 Cavill Mall, Surfers Paradise.

It will be its 177th store nationally, and its 38th in Queensland.

"This chain has expanded rapidly since opening it's first store in 2003 - it's certainly a home grown success story," said Mr Carrigan.

"They continue to look for sites - they currently have their eye on more stores in Brisbane CBD and in the other capital cities."

Diva has also rolled out stores internationally in Russia, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand and South Africa with further roll outs in those countries planned and are  launching in the USA in California later this year.

Located next door to the Soul Tower's $120 Million retail precinct under construction, the new Diva store on Cavill Mall will start trading by November in time for Schoolies 2009.

No details of the rental rates have been disclosed, but retail space in that area ranges from $2000/sq m to $4000sq m.

"This site is a key location and one that will put Diva right in the middle of the action when the new Hilton and Soul Developments open," said Mr Carrigan.

Mr Carrigan added that demand for sites in both Brisbane and the Gold Coast prime strips is strong.

"We have a large number of national retailers looking to secure good sites at present due to current the state of the retail market," he said.

"National retailers are trying to capitalise on the current good market and some of our Brisbane leasing executives are averaging one deal every 5 days," he said.
