First for Brisbane: Unique retail pod leasing opportunity opens up
An exceptional opportunity to secure up to three fixed retail pod spaces, with direct exposure to more than 3,000 Bicentennial Bikeway cyclists, joggers and walkers daily and adjacent to the Milton Business precinct is now available.
The site, which is ideally positioned with plentiful room for three fixed retail outlets, about 3.5 metres long by 1.2 metres wide, plus seating and storage, will offer the first retailing experience of its kind in Brisbane.
Ian Carrigan, Colliers International Director of Retail, will be managing an Expressions of Interest Campaign, closing Friday, 30th July.
The lessor has secured the space and is seeking the right operator/s to realise the full potential of the site.
Mr Carrigan said this rare retail opportunity is not to be missed by savvy juice, coffee or snack bar retailer wanting to tap into the growing cycle and foot traffic which frequents the area.
"Localised traffic is likely to increase further when planned upgrade works are completed in 2011, which include a Citycycle centre, planned for the space next to the retail pod precinct, which will offer bikes for hire and will create more activity in the area," he said.
"The café industry and cycle and fitness phenomenon are both booming, with both having become central to Brisbane's culture."
"We are increasingly seeing retailers adapting their offerings to cater to cyclists. A prime example of this is the recently constructed HQ development in Fortitude Valley, where the developers identified the need to include a bike station within the centre."
Mr Carrigan said this retail pod concept goes one step further, bringing the retail offering directly to the cyclists.
"The retail pods are essentially a permanent version of the traditional café/snack cart," he said.
"The available space fronts the Bicentennial Bikeway, and is situated under the Coronation Drive viaduct, metres from the Go Between Bridge and adjacent to Little Cribb Street, which connects to the space under Coronation Drive, via the pedestrian tunnel."
"Situated one kilometre from the city heart, just over kilometre from QUT and 2.7 kilometres from the University of Queensland, this area has amazing potential to be a popular pit stop for cyclists, fitness enthusiasts and locals alike."
"The shallow arch of the viaduct structure provides a well shaded area which captures the breezes and provides weather protection all year around. The area also enjoys stunning river views along both the Toowong and city reaches of the Brisbane river."
