El Gaucho steakhouse will open in the ground floor of the new Doubletree by Hilton, Perth Waterfront hotel, which is due to open next year.
The lease for the 490sqm-venue, which will overlook the Swan River and a popular stretch of the boardwalk around The Lucky Shag, was negotiated by Colliers International’s Tim Scott who said El Gaucho would complement Elizabeth Quay’s restaurant scene.
“El Gauchos will be a relaxed, up-market restaurant at the base of the newest addition to Perth’s hotel industry and will help to activate the waterfront around Barrack Square and the Barrack Street Jetty,” Mr Scott said.
El Gaucho director Jake Strauss said the food and beverage industry was always on the lookout for prized locations.
“The Swan River is one of Perth’s most famous landmarks and we are looking forward to opening a waterfront venue catering to locals and visitors,” Mr Strauss said.
El Gaucho, which will be owned by the Northbridge franchisee of Outback Jacks Bar and Grill, signed a five-year lease for the restaurant.
“As development progresses on the remaining Elizabeth Quay sites, there will be more demand for restaurants and dining options and El Gaucho will be an important addition to Perth’s newest precinct,” Mr Scott said.
The $90 million Doubletree by Hilton, Perth Waterfront hotel is being built by SKS Group, the Malaysian hotel, retail and residential property developer, which also built DoubleTree by Hilton Northbridge, which opened in January.
