Colliers International Strategic Advisory is pleased to present a 5-Step Strategic Property Playbook to help owners, occupiers, investors and Government property decision makers maximise value and reduce risk. Our experts unpack the most critical issues affecting private organisations and governments and provide a guide on how best to respond to changing market environments and what to consider to create a robust property strategy that ensures success.
In this 5-Step Property Strategy Playbook, we examine how an inward focus assists the development of a robust property strategy, some of the ways in which you can extract greater value and return from your property assets, how spatial analysis and big data analytics can take your strategy to greater heights, an outlook on the emergence of the new business as usual and subsequently how economic development policy and infrastructure can help build economic resilience (a Government perspective).
Our senior advisors trust that you will find value in our insights, backed by an exceptional track record of success and industry experience. You can download the 5-Step Property Strategy Matrix or to find out more about how Strategic Advisory can tailor a strategy for your business, please contact one of our Strategic Advisory Experts today.
Head of Strategic Advisory
I joined Colliers International in 2018 as Head of Strategic Advisory. I am dedicated to leading the national team of multi-disciplinary experts to tailor strategic advisory services, across all market sectors and asset classes, to our client’s needs.
I have demonstrated success across a diverse range of property services including: strategy development, high stakes negotiation, change management, transaction management, asset management, leasing, operations, corporate real estate, funds management and development management in all market sectors.
As an established senior property professional and knowledge manager, with 25+ years’ industry experience, I possess strong interpersonal and business relationship management skills which are key to understanding client’s unique business requirements and the complex challenges explicit to the project lifecycle.
Carl has over 15 years of national and international experience in development planning, advisory, economics, policy and management. He is an expert on Queensland’s planning and development framework and specialises in asset optimisation, market analysis, demand forecasts, development feasibility, highest and best use, development strategy and strategic planning.
Carl has undertaken numerous research and consultancy engagements with all levels of government, with a particular focus on development and land use strategies, land optimisation, policy research and business case development for major projects.
Carl is a trusted advisor to a range of institutional, corporate and private clients including Dexus, Stockland, Lend Lease, Abacus Property Group and CVC Limited, among others.
Prior to joining Colliers, Carl was Director of CJK Planning, a business founded by Carl in 2012 providing development consultancy services to publicly listed companies and high net worth individuals.
Recent and ongoing projects include highest and best use analysis for key sites of Dexus, Stamford Land Corporation and Cross River Rail. He has been the Development Manager for acquisition and delivery of neighbourhood shopping centres for CVC Limited, ISPT and Consolidated Properties, and Land use and Investment Attraction Strategies for Councils in QLD and VIC.
He has acted as an expert witness in the Planning and Environment Court for highest and best use analysis and claims for injurious affection.
I have over 26 years' experience in agency (Metropolitan and NSW), acquisition, development (nationally) and valuation. I have spent a significant proportion of my career in senior management roles including leading the Western Sydney Advisory operations for Colliers International between 2001 and 2005. Following a number of years in development and advisory I accepted the role of returning to Colliers International in 2012 to launch the Consultancy arm of the business (Strategic Advisory).
I have primary specialisation in development sites, feasibilities, deal structuring, highest and best analysis and portfolio reviews.
My early career was in Banking and later in trading with a Japanese Trading House where I imported equipment, established distributorships as well as providied financing for importers of our products. My entry into property was through the funding of real estate development projects with the Japanese Trading Houses and General Contractors. In this role I became the financial project manager and asset manager of over 40 commercial, retail, industrial and residential projects throughout Australia.
This opened the opportunities for development management, portfolio management, project marketing, feasibility studies and strategic analysis and in conjunction with my business partner we established a property consultancy, which we operated succesfully for over 20 years servicing our Japanese clients as well as government and private clients. I joined Colliers in 2015 when my business partner retired.
