Professional Summary

Ian is Head of Healthcare & Retirement Living, leading, and overseeing the strategy and development of the Colliers International healthcare offering, nationally and across Asia Pacific. As a trusted advisor, with 20+ years’ experience across healthcare, finance and property, Ian has an extensive understanding of the broader implications of industry, government, and market conditions.

With full operational accountability across the divisions P&L, Ian leads a national team with responsibilities for:

  •  Implementing overall market engagement strategy across:

        - Retirement Villages
        - Hospitals
        - Aged Care
        - Childcare
        - Allied health
        - Medical centers
        - Manufactured Housing Estates (MHE)

  •     Broadening the service proposition to include strategic and market consultancy in addition to valuations and transaction services
  •     Facilitating inbound offshore investment into Australian Healthcare
  •     Facilitating outbound intellectual property into Asian markets

Accomplishments

In his executive and governance roles Ian has worked with institutional, corporate and property finance businesses in various markets, with time spent off-shore in New York and New Zealand Institutional Markets. Throughout his career he has lead transactions and managed client facing businesses with end-to-end responsibilities. In healthcare he has lead the funding and underwriting of numerous acquisitions.

Before moving into the sector directly, Ian was a corporate and institutional finance business leader, including specialist roles as Head of Health at St George Bank, Director Corporate at NAB Health, Associate Director- New Zealand, dealing with retirement living, specialist medical providers, the pharmacy sector and primary health care.

  • Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD)

Memberships & Involvements

Ian has for some time held several non-executive roles with not-for-profit organizations in the community including in Aged Care, Early Childhood Learning, Community Transport.

Non-executive roles have included:

  • Board Member- Early Learning Association of Australia
  • Board member and Chair of Finance for Link Community Transport

Ian has an ongoing involvement in community health delivery, continuing his record of giving back to the sector and has worked in startup environments experiencing firsthand the challenges of implementing innovation.
