Colliers expands Flexible Workspace team

Colliers have expanded their growing Flexible Workspace specialisation, with the appointment of Jonathan Kearins into Occupier Services, based in the Sydney CBD.

With over 15 years experience in the commercial property industry, Jonathan has worked in varying leasing and tenant advisory roles, most recently as Head of Real Estate ANZ at WeWork. As Director of Flexible Workspace Consulting within the Colliers Tenant Advisory team, Jonathan will advise major occupier clients on the flexible workspace market, implementing strategies for clients to incorporate these opportunities into their portfolios.

“We are excited to welcome Jonathan to Colliers to lead and grow this important and significantly expanding area of expertise as one of our core consulting offerings for occupier clients in the office sector,” said Simon Crouch, Head of Tenant Advisory at Colliers.

Jonathan Kearins said he was thrilled to join Colliers and the Occupier Services team to grow this specialised service area.

“The flexible workspace sector continues to evolve within the commercial real estate industry and present an attractive accommodation strategy for corporate occupiers. There is a strong and well-defined national pipeline of flexible workspace supply, allowing unsatiated demand from large corporates to be met,” said Jonathan.

“Further, its my recent and consistent experience that more and more large users are targeting between 20-40% of their office foot print to be in non-traditional office space, this represents a significant evolution in the way users are approaching accommodation needs.”

“I’m looking forward to educating and advising our occupier clients on the flexible workspace market and assisting them to choose the most suitable flexible space operator and arrangement for their business model; a task that can be overwhelming for companies not familiar with the complexities and inner workings of the flexible workspace sector."

Doug Henry, Managing Director of Occupier Services in Australia, mentioned the growth of the flexible space sector is a focus area for the global Occupier Services team.

“Having acknowledged the growth of flexible workspace globally, our Occupier Services team is investing in flexible space experts across our major regions, including Australia, Asia, Europe and the America’s,” said Doug.

“Jonathan now forms part of this global expertise and will be collaborating with his Occupier Services colleagues on reports, thought leadership and trends to ensure best practice and exceptional results for our clients throughout Australia, and globally.”
