Q: How long have you been in the real estate industry and how did you come to join Colliers? 

I’ve been working in the valuation industry for 9 years across various asset classes and property sectors.  

The opportunity arose to work for Colliers in 2015 and over the last 7 years I’ve come to specialise in the valuation of commercial office and retail assets in the Sydney CBD market.  

Q: Tell us a bit more about your current role with Colliers. What do you find most fulfilling about it? 

I particularly enjoy the dynamics of the market that I specialise in and being able to service a diverse range of clients. The Sydney CBD market is witnessing unprecedented levels of public and private sector development and investment, and the opportunity to work on a range of these projects allows me to further expand my skillset and knowledge base. I’m also fortunate to work alongside a range of industry leading experts so the time I spend collaborating with Colliers’ Capital Markets, Investment Services and Leasing teams is another rewarding part of my role. 

Q: What kind of advice/insights are your clients asking you so far in 2022? 
Clients are always interested in how they can they maximise their asset’s performance. My role in providing robust advice is critical to identify the impacts on property values and potential opportunities to achieve value uplift or de-risk assets. 

Q: From your experience of working with private investors, do you have any tips you could share with them when they re-vitalise their assets in the current environment? 

I’d advise private investors to implement a proactive asset management strategy to future proof their assets. In the current low interest environment, I am an advocate for clients to undertake capital expenditure projects which may enable them to distinguish their assets from competitors and/or reposition their properties to capture value uplift. I’d also say don’t be afraid of investing capital to identify ‘hidden value’ that may be able to be unlocked from their assets, such as investigating opportunities for planning uplift or achieving a higher and better use, or for heritage listed buildings, for example, looking into opportunities to be awarded transferable heritage floor space.
