Trent Robertson is the leader of our Newcastle Industrial business and celebrated twenty years with the Colliers business in 2020.

Humble in his approach, Trent’s expertise across the Newcastle market is highly sought after by key clients. He showcases our values thanks to his collaboration across geographies and service lines to drive exceptional results. 

Q: Tell us about your journey to join Colliers – how long have you been in the industry, and what prompted you to join us?  

I started in the real estate industry in 1993, and moved to Colliers Newcastle in 2000. I recently celebrated 20 years with Colliers – it’s been a blast and I’m looking forward to the next 20 years!

Q: What’s your current role at Colliers, and what do you find most fulfilling about it?  

I am a national director in the industrial business. I lead the industrial team here in Newcastle and work closely with our national industrial team, occupier services and strategic advisory business. I regard many of my colleagues as friends and when a team has been working together for as long as we have, it incredibly easy to collaborate together. So I guess it’s the camaraderie of being in a business with some amazingly talented people who all want to do the right thing and make a difference !  

Q: You’re a member of the Industrial asset class, one that has evolved considerably in the last ten years. What appeals to you about working with industrial owners, landlords and occupiers?  

I have specialised in the industrial sector for nearly most of the last 20 years and I find it challenging and incredibly interesting. I work with private clients, AREITs, government, and national corporates. Seeing projects that you work on come to fruition that makes a difference in the community, and that positively impacts employment and the economy never gets boring. 

Q: Can you think of a transaction or project that you’re particularly proud of? What did you do to ensure its success? 

There are many, such as the sale of the Austube Site in Newcastle and the work with the NSW Government on the Port of Newcastle. Newcastle as an investment destination has grown considerably in the last ten years, and it’s been fantastic to contribute to its transformation.  

Q: Any final words of wisdom for those looking to join the Colliers team? 

Good things come to those who persist and never give up.
