The last year in residential aged care has been turbulent to say the least. Between uncertainty in funding, Royal Commission and COVID the circa 800+ operators have had an uphill battle in keeping operations running smoothly across ~210,000 beds.

Add to this the convergence in care delivery across the home care regime, retirement villages and private care, as well as an increasingly savvy consumer (in both financial and healthcare aspects) it’s hard to imagine a time in the sector where operational conditions were as tough.

With all of these headwinds, the sector largely has done extremely well to maintain the level of care provided to its’ residents during a pandemic whilst managing consumer, funding and care model changes.

This report provides insight into the listed players and provide context of what the current and future landscape looks like.
