A strategic agribusiness investment opportunity with diversity and scale
Colliers International has been appointed to sell 923ha of versatile and productive horticultural and cropping land in South Australia.
Colliers International’s Jesse Manuel, who is selling the property with colleague Tim Altschwager, said the assets, known as Coonawarra Fresh Produce, currently operate as vertically integrated horticultural producer of fresh vegetables on a large scale.
“Coonawarra Fresh Produce is one of the largest diversified horticultural producers and mixed farming enterprises in the South Australia’s Lower South East region,” Mr Manuel said.
“Whilst the current operator’s core business is growing, packing, processing and marketing large volumes of fresh vegetables, the extensive shedding infrastructure on the holding is of substantial scale and may suit an alternative use such as free-stall dairy barns or the storage of large volumes of fodder and other commodities.
“The current operators supply major supermarkets and other key customers and have a long-standing reputation for consistently supplying large volumes of quality produce.
“Coonawarra Fresh Produce also stores potatoes in a modern purpose built facility under contract to a major Australian food company which provides steady and consistent income streams.
“The CFP operation also incorporates broadacre activities including cereal cropping, prime lamb fattening as well as the production of lucerne hay and carrot seed."
CFP’s landholdings are located in the renowned and highly productive Glenroy and Bool Lagoon districts, near Penola and Coonawarra in South Australia.
Mr Altschwager said CFP owned 923.64ha of mostly contiguous land holdings, providing for a highly efficient operation and over 980 mega litres of water entitlements for irrigation. This allowed for a range of agricultural pursuits to be carried out on the land.
On offer is all land, water entitlements, plant and equipment either as a going concern or sale of assets basis. Expressions of Interest close at 4pm on Thursday 25 June 2015.
