Colliers International’s Mike Crittenden has been appointed as the exclusive project leasing agent for the Mernda Junction Shopping Centre, which is currently under development in Mernda, Victoria.
Coles will bring their latest full-line supermarket to this new neighbourhood shopping centre, which will feature Liquorland and about20 specialty retailers. The centre will be serviced by more than 300 car parks and is due for completion in late 2017.
“This project will include a state-of-the-art Coles supermarket to serve the main trade area around Mernda,” Mr Crittenden said. “Located approximately 30 kilometres north of Melbourne's CBD in the city of Whittlesea, Mernda Junction Shopping Centre will provide convenient shopping to the surrounding catchment of over 40,000 people, and it will set a new benchmark in quality neighbourhood retail space.”
Mernda is one of the fastest growing suburbs in Melbourne. The Victorian state government has plans to extend the South Morang rail line to cater for the significant population growth across Melbourne’s north. The railway project will include a premium station hub at Mernda and is expected to be operational in 2019.
“We are excited to be building a fantastic new neighbourhood shopping centre in the heart of Mernda at the junction of Bridge Inn and Plenty Roads,” a spokesman for Mernda Junction Shopping Centre said.
“We look forward to becoming part of this vibrant local community. The Mernda Junction Shopping Centre will be ‘Your place for every day’.
“It is great to be involved in the development of a new local hub, which will provide the community with a brand new Coles supermarket, a variety of quality retail stores and places to meet and dine.
“Importantly, the centre will also provide local employment opportunities.”
