Metro pulls into more space at 700 Collins Street

Colliers International fields keen interest in last remaining floors

Melbourne train operator, Metro, will expand its footprint within Cromwell Property Group’s 700 Collins Street as leasing agent Colliers International fields unforeseen interest in the balance of the building.

Colliers International’s Edward Knowles and Tony Landrigan have negotiated a new lease that will see Metro occupy a further 2,500sqm on Level 14 in addition to an existing 7,500sqm on Levels 15-17. The initial 7,500sqm was secured on a 10-year lease facilitated in 2015 by Mr Knowles.

“This new lease will see Metro occupy around 10,000sqm in total at 700 Collins on two aligned, long term leases,” Mr Knowles said.

“700 Collins Street offers large, highly efficient office floors of 2,500sqm and has been undergoing a major refurbishment by landlord Cromwell since being vacated by Medibank, which has repositioned the asset with a brand new Collins Street lobby and new dedicated end-of-trip facilities.

“The property’s location, with its connection to the Melbourne CBD grid, is becoming highly sought-after and we have been fielding significant, unforeseen interest on the remaining two floors which make up the balance of the building.

“We have shortlisted five major occupiers, each of whom is looking at between 2,500-5,000sqm of space over one or two floors. We expect to lease these floors up very quickly.”
