Colliers International to market Del Rios vineyard in northern Victoria for sale or lease by Public Tender
One of the largest vineyards in Australia, Del Rios in Victoria, is on the market for sale or lease this month in the biggest vineyard listing to date in 2016.
Colliers International’s Tim Altschwager and Nick Dean have been appointed by Belvino Investments to offer the Del Rios vineyard for sale or lease by public tender.
Mr Altschwager said the vineyard, located on the Murray River in Kenley, 77km north of Swan Hill is one of most significant vineyards in Australia.
The vineyard is within the Murray Darling Wine Region. The Murray Darling Geographic Indication(GI) is the second largest wine region in Australia, with about 1,300 growers and 23,000 hectares of vineyards producing around 400,000 tonnes annually (up to 25% of the national crush, depending on seasonal variations).
“With a vineyard area of nearly 900 ha and high security water entitlements of 5,476.2 megalitres, the well established Del Rios property will be highly sought after."
The vineyard was established from 1998 to 2003 and is predominantly planted to Chardonnay (39%), Sauvignon Blanc (20%), Merlot (14%) and Shiraz (8.5%).
Extensive infrastructure servicing this large scale irrigated vineyard includes office, housing, sheds and staff amenities.
“The sheer scale of this vineyard, coupled with its large water entitlement, will draw significant interest from national and international wine industry participants, investors and potentially from prospects looking for suitable properties to convert to alternative crops such as almonds,” he said.
Belvino Investments owns nearly 4,000ha of vineyards in Australia and New Zealand. The majority of the vineyards are primarily leased to wine companies including Australian Vintage, Delegat Wines, Accolade and Treasury.
