Post Office Square, one of Brisbane CBD’s busiest and most popular foodcourts, is welcoming four new retailers who have all committed to seven year leases and a total of 234.4sqm.
All four tenancies are currently being fitted out with the following retailers scheduled to open within the next two months: Queensland Country Credit Union (QCCU), Massage King, Fresh Pasta Pot and Roti Chenai Indian.
“There are now only two prime tenancies left for lease in the newly renovated Post Office Square,” said Sam Degn of Colliers International, who leased the four tenancies within two months after being appointed by POS Retail Pty Ltd.
“The strong foot traffic through the centre was a significant consideration which lead to QCCU choosing this particular location. They were based in Koala House on the corner of Creek and Anne Street for about 10 years and were looking for a more prominent site for their new format bank.
“Gone are the days when banks dominated the CBD retail space. They are now taking up prime corner locations and choosing to downsize to remain profitable.
“Historically national banks have taken up large format locations in the CBD and in many cases heritage listed sites.
“This move to downsize and relocate has been driven by a decrease in face to face customer interaction and increased 24/7 online banking,” Ms Degn said.
The $5 million refurbishment of the Post Office Square foodcourt is now complete including upgraded escalators. The centre has approximately 17,500 visitors daily which offers great trade to new and existing tenants.
