Victoria and Canberra Healthcare and Retirement Living teams join forces to secure agency for south-east coast development site
Colliers International’s Victoria and Canberra Healthcare and Retirement Living teams have joined forces to secure the agency for a major development site on the south-east coast.
Head of HRL, Shalain Singh, and residential land marketing general manager, Shane Radnell, worked closely with Doma Group Canberra to acquire the Bateman’s Bay listing, which currently operates as a 54-room motel with function area, restaurant, tennis court and pool.
Mr Singh said the 2.86-hectare site, which is one street back from the town’s waterfront, presented an invaluable opportunity for a retirement village or aged-care facility developer to take advantage of a seaside location.
“Bateman’s Bay is characterised by a predominantly older demographic, lending itself to the development of affordable retirement or aged care living,” he said.
“There are multiple options for this site, starting with refurbishing the motel.
"Alternatively, developers may be inclined to demolish the current building and build a retirement village, allied health facility, integrated healthcare service or manufactured housing estate.”
