Ahmad Ibrahimi to lead retail leasing at Colliers International’s Perth office

Retail destinations to be new focus for retailers.

Retail expert Ahmad Ibrahimi has joined Colliers International’s Perth office as Head of Retail Leasing.
Mr Ibrahimi, who grew up in Sydney and Perth, and graduated from Edit Cowan University, has spent the past 10 years working in the Middle East where he had either an advisory or a management role in the development of more than 500,000sqm of retail space.

His overseas experience includes a long working relationship with Gulf State shopping centre developers and retailers in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

In Perth he will be focusing on CBD retail leasing and also on the much-watched shopping centre market.

“I started my career in retail leasing and later moved on to specialise in the design and planning for new shopping centres and in the re-positioning of existing centres,” Mr Ibrahimi said.

“The most successful shopping centres are designed when architects work closely with leasing specialists, marketers and key retail tenants. This high level of engagement will be especially important as competition from e-commerce grows.”

Perth’s CBD retail market has expanded in the past year with new space at Yagan Square and redevelopments at Raine Square and Forrest Chase. The retail component at Elizabeth Quay and the East End Revitalisation will also stretch Perth’s retail map.

Mr Ibrahimi said Perth’s retail market was facing a significant evolution as landlords look to re-launch their centres with a focus on destination driven retail.

“The city is acquiring a new range of modern, well-designed venues for CBD visitors and landlords should be looking at these drivers when planning their new spaces,” he said.
